“In October this year I was lucky enough to be asked to be part of the St John Ambulance group to go to Northern India. The group of eight members of St John, five cadets and three adults, travelled to McLeod Ganj to work with the Tibetan people in Exile. Over the 10 day trip we taught over 300 people basic first aid skills and had an amazing experience; building on the strong links that have been previously made there and gaining so much training experience.
Each member of the group raised money which would go to help the various groups we were visiting. I completed a 1 mile sponsored swim in order to raise money and Albright Patents sponsored me to do this. The money raised by the group was divided among several organisations; TCV (Tibetan Children’s Village) a school, and home, to many children of the Tibetan families; Norbulingka, a Tibetan Cultural Institute where they teach traditional Tibetan arts; Nurses in Tibet Charity. At TCV the money was used to buy all 2000 students chocolate bars, and some money was left to help with future projects. At Norbulingka the money is being used to refurbish the crèche, buying desks and chairs for the children, and it will also buy new uniforms for the nurses of Tibet Charity.
Thank you to Albright Patents for their sponsorship.”
