Feasibility Assessment
This involves assessing various factors to ensure that your project is worthwhile pursuing. Technology, materials, likely product cost and production are all factors to be considered.
This step provides you with the reassurance that it is worth continuing to develop and protect your concept. This may be likely to involve patent searching to provide vital information and guidance on whether your idea already exists and whether it has previously been patented.
For more information, please contact Duku to speak with an experienced product designer.
Concept Development
At this stage, the professional design team at Duku will develop your idea through excellent sketch or initial Computer Aided Design (CAD) work.
This often includes ‘proof of concept’ prototypes to demonstrate the core functionality of your idea, in concept form, which will bring your idea to life with product visualisations.
Any intellectual property considerations, including patents, registered designs and trade marks, may also be reviewed at this stage.
For more information, please contact Duku to speak with an experienced product designer.
Product Protection
Depending on the intellectual property requirements, this stage will consider the filing of patents, registered designs and trade marks. This can protect your ideas and innovation in a tangible form, in order to strengthen your position in the marketplace.
This step is most likely to involve producing patent drawings suitable for a patent application.

Presentation
The professional design team at Duku will work with you to turn your concept into a persuasive, commercial proposition by producing presentation prototypes and sell sheets.
For more information, please contact Duku to speak with an experienced product designer.
Prototyping
This is the process of turning the concept sketches or CAD models into real 3D objects to really inspire investors, buyers or potential licensees. There is nothing like having a real prototype to demonstrate your product.
For more information, please contact Duku to speak with an experienced product designer.
Selling Your Idea
The next step is marketing and selling your product. Sell sheets allow you to demonstrate your product in use and highlight the key features and benefit these features provide.
Sell sheets use the professional CAD models created earlier in the process to create photo-realistic renders of your product.
This stage may also include licensing intellectual property rights.
For more information, please contact Duku to speak with an experienced product designer.
Manufacturing
By using industry standard CAD software, this step involves the development of production-ready CAD models, developing on any CAD work developed in the Concept Development step.
This typically involves ‘Design for Manufacture’, which involves refining the CAD model such that it is ready for manufacture, production costing, process management, sampling and packaging, to name a few.
For more information, please contact Duku to speak with an experienced product designer.
Packaging Design
To complete the product development process, Duku can assist in the development of packaging design to create impressive and professional packaging. This will allow you to present your product to buyers in the form in which it will go onto shelves in stores.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS?
This is the process of turning an idea into a desirable product. It takes an idea from the concept stage, continues through the development of the idea, and finally arrives at putting the developed product into production.
The process of product development involves many stages and includes: research, ergonomics, styling development, brand consideration, sizing, engineering, material consideration and design for manufacture, to name just a few.
Our design process is uniquely focused on two main elements: ensuring that the design is protectable and developing a concept presentation for minimum capital risk, whilst ensuring that the concept has been designed diligently and professionally.
Together, by working in tandem on all aspects of your project, Albright IP and Duku can advise on everything required to turn your idea into a marketable product and a profitable business.
The cost of product development varies as the process is tailored to meet your requirements. Therefore it is best to call for a free consultation, so please get in touch with us today to find out how we can assist you.
