UK, EUROPEAN AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE MARK COSTS
We are committed to providing the best service at an affordable price, and provide clear indications of cost for each stage of the UK and European patenting processes.
The following sections give a general indication of when and why costs are incurred on UK and European patent applications.

Is preparing and filing a registered trade mark application expensive?
We offer competitive fixed fee deals for preparing UK and European trade mark applications, and then filing at the UK IPO or EUIPO respectively.
We also offer very competitive rates for handling overseas trade mark applications, via our network of experienced and cost-effective foreign associates. This applies to both Madrid Protocol (‘international’) trade mark applications and to national trade mark filings in individual countries.
For further details, please contact us for a brief discussion.

Are there any official fees to pay?
Official fees are due on all trade mark applications but the level of fees can vary between different jurisdictions. For example, whilst the EUIPO official fees are higher than the UK IPO official fees, you are able to prosecute a single trade mark application and, on registration, receive a registered European Union trade mark covering Europe. As a result, if you need trade mark protection in a number of European countries, there can be significant savings by applying for a registered European (Community) trade mark rather than for individual national registered trade marks.

Are there any other costs associated with registered trade mark applications?
Separately to the official fees, there are foreign attorney fees and our service fee in handling trade mark applications. Generally speaking, most of the cost is involved in the filing stage, although some countries also have official fees due on registration of a trade mark.
If formal objections arise against a trade mark application, there may also be costs involved in overcoming the objections.
