Matthew joined the University of Warwick in 2014 where he obtained an Honours degree in Medical Microbiology and a Master of Science by Research degree in Microbial Ecology.

Matthew completed his university studies in 2023, obtaining a PhD in Biochemistry. During his doctorate, Matthew was engaged in a multidisciplinary project to uncover and characterise novel microbial quorum sensing molecules in Streptomyces bacteria. During his PhD, Matthew became versed in bioinformatics, phylogenetics, analytical chemistry and many aspects of engineering biology. Matthew has been involved in biological education for the entirety of his postgraduate studies and currently holds a professional associate fellowship with AdvanceHE and interned with the Education Policy Department at the Royal Society of Biology.

Matthew joined Albright IP in October 2023 to train as a patent attorney and is currently involved in every aspect of the patenting process including drafting, filing and prosecution of patents.

Matthew has a special interest and technical background in the industrial applications of microbial biotechnology.

In his spare time, Matthew enjoys multiple hobbies including recording music, collecting guitars, playing videogames, and is fond of cooking and gastronomy.
