Adrian Hocking

As well as being a Patents Director, Adrian is a highly motivated and conscientious Chartered British Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, and IP Litigator (Patents) with years of experience. He graduated from Nottingham University with an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering and subsequently obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from Coventry University.

His life in Intellectual Property began in Tokyo where he worked for three years in a Japanese patent law firm.  He dealt with technical developments in digital photography and compression algorithms from Pentax, as well as assisting with translation matters.  On his return to the UK, Adrian joined a leading national Patent Law Firm where he trained and qualified as both a Chartered British Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, and IP Litigator (Patents).

In addition to being a Patents Director of Albright IP, Adrian handles all aspects of patent and design preparation, filing, and prosecution in all territories globally, particularly in the areas of general engineering, automotive, aerospace, telecoms, and software. Adrian also advises clients on contentious IP matters, such as patent infringement.

As with all of our attorneys, Adrian is a member of and regulated by IPReg, the independent professional regulatory body in the UK for Patent Attorneys and Trade Mark Attorneys. You can therefore be assured of quality of service and quality of work.

Adrian is also a long-standing member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, and the European Patent Institute.

Adrian leads an active life, enjoying the gym, mountain biking, skiing, and windsurfing, as well as studying Japanese.
